The Farndon Unit team step up to Red Nose Challenge
It may not have been feasible for the staff and patients at Raphael Healthcare's Farndon Unit to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Comic Relief, as a number of celebrities did, however they were determined to do their bit as they intend to match the Big Nose climb foot for foot!
A number of fun activities were planned to take part throughout the week building up to Comic Relief Day including; egg and spoon races, three legged walks, skipping etc where the patients and staff aim to cover a total of 19,500 feet, which is the height of the Mount Kilamanjaro.
Holly Chandler, Activities Co-ordinator said; "So many people here wanted to get involved in the activities programme which spread over the week. There were a huge number of activities that took place including; baking and cake selling, banner making, and jewelry making, as well as activities to help clock up the miles, where some people are actually used a Wii console."
The activities culminated with the participants watching the live TV programme together on Friday evening.
Director of Operations, Paula Holdsworth said; "It was a great opportunity for the team here to bond with patients and raise much needed money for great causes."
