Raphael Healthcare service users setting standards
The Farndon Unit’s service users have been involved in a number of initiatives that are part of the Yorkshire and Humber Specialist Commissioning Group ‘Strategy for Involvement’ which will enable them to have a say in how services are operated and commissioned as well as setting standards.
The initiatives include:
• i4i network
i4i (Innovation for Improvement). The focus of the meetings is to look at identified areas ie Patient 25hr Activity and CPA Standards.
A number of patients at The Farndon Unit are currently members of the CPA Standards DVD group alongside other service users from the NHS and independent sector who are involved in producing a training / promotional DVD focusing on the 20 standards for CPA. Service users from The Farndon Unit are involved in writing the dialogue for a 'Good CPA’. Filming begins on 3rd March with Bradford University Media Production Company.
• Choices, Lifestyles and Responsibilities Working Party
Services users at The Farndon Unit are members of the group 'Choices, Lifestyles and Responsibilities' this is a working party looking a patient choices within secure services in relation to: smoking, communication (internet, mobile phones), Self Care, Food etc. Recommendations for standards from this group have been taken forward to the National Commissioners meeting with a view to becoming part of next years CQUINS.
• Yorkshire and Humber Service User Involvement Strategy Group
The group looks at different areas and allows service users to present their views to Commissioners. The group also undertakes workshops to review different aspects of commissioning services ie gatekeeping assessments
